What is Memory Foam?

Everyone knows how essential is to get a goodnight’s sleep. It would be appropriate to say that nowadays our everyday activities have become more stressful and pernicious for our health. Memory foam is temperature sensitive polyurethane or better known as visco elastic foam. Memory foam reacts to the physical heat of the human body and changes its shape forming mold with equal pressure at all contact points. Its density can be higher or lower; the higher density the tougher and the lower one for more sensitive pressure points.

High-density visco-elastic foam recovers to its original state some time after pressure is removed. That is why it is sometimes called “slow release foam”. It is used mainly in mattress toppers, mattresses and pillows but you can also find memory foam in footwear and cushions.

The word memory used in the name perhaps comes from its ability to retain its shape for some time after the pressure is already removed. As a result from the foam’s “memory” molding your body perfectly to one’s personal body shape therefore avoids painful high-pressure spots and therefore is in incredible benefit for older people.
