QVC Bodipedic Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress Topper is not as good as it seems or being advertised

I’ve never been a big fan of QVC or the shopping channel, but sometimes they come up with some very interesting offers of somehow unknown brands offering relatively good quality at extremely low price. This time I stumbled upon one such item called the Bodipedic Visco Elastic Memory foam topper which seemed to be interesting enough for me to take a good look and see what it’s this all about.

The first place I checked was obviously the QVC website and interesting enough I found a bunch of bodipedic topper reviews that vary so greatly that I was impressed. Some buyers claim that the first product shipment (most probably manufacturing line) was very good quality and most of them were pretty happy with what they got, but the second line of reviews were the total opposite. People claimed that the bodipedic visco elastic memory foam topper had (some quotes from the qvc website): “I‘ve noticed the topper is turning into an awful yellowish gold color” and stuff like “It is so comfy but it‘s too much trouble to get rid ot the smell” which basically means that the product was sold before being “aged” – a process where the actual product sits for a few days/a week or so to get rid of the smell. Also the coloring effect is occurring in times when the “visco-elastic spray” was not enough (it’s actually a can of special agent that you spray on top of regular foam mattress/topper and it gains the “memory” characteristics) and the typical foam has the effect of changing color to yellowish due to air oxidation…

Anyway those things seem to be pretty much normal for low quality memory foam products and that’s quite understandable. I’m not sure if many of you know that QVC is one of the largest shopping empires and they require “sellers” to pay them more than 70% in commission fees and this fact in combination with the really low prices explains the fact that the resulting quality of some of their products are understandably lower than expected. Don’t get me wrong, there are still some very nice products that they offer, but some of them really show to be bad. Anyway that’s not the topic of our discussion.

The point comes to say what we’re going to do and if we’re going to even suggest this product. In this case I’d like to recommend all of you that you should not be cheap about it and get a better topper for a bit more money. In such times I usually refer to one very wise British saying “I’m not that rich to buy cheap stuff” which usually is the right case since cheap stuff is not the same quality and usually gets to the trash so quickly that it’s just a big waste of money.
Now I guess it’s the right time to add something else. The Bodipedic Visco Elastic Memory Foam topper comes with one a bit priced variety called “Bodipedic Sleep OnAir Visco Elastic Memory FoamC/K MattressTop” which comes at $228 for 2” topper and is said to be quite better quality than the regular thing which most probably is in fact, but I won’t bet on it. Anyway 2” memory foam topper is nothing and the “memory foam floating feeling” will be nowhere close to the 3” or 4” memory toppers. Be careful and be smart about this purchase!
