Am thinking practicability before buying a queen-sized foam mattress; possibly a topper as well. Several comments refer to 100-110 lb. mattress weight, and that the mattress is vacuum packed in a compact size box - I saw one at Costco that had plastic wheels at bottom and a plastic handle on top, much like a large suitcase.

I'm 68, live by myself, and the bedroom is on 2nd floor. If I do get it upstairs in the box (that's doable) and then open the vacuum seal, there is no place to allow it to expand and vent odors other than on top of the existing (old) mattress, so how/where do I sleep for one or two weeks? And, if I open it downstairs to allow expansion & venting, how does one person get the cumbersome, expanded, 110 lb. mattress upstairs? Further, it comes with a return policy, but how does one return an opened and expanded 110 lb. queen mattress, if necessary? Just some thoughts waiting around for comments / answers.

Ihave a 14 year old tempurpedic mattress that has gotten very hard. I've had no luck with the comp. standing behind it's 20 year guarantee.I can't afford a new mattress so I'm looking at toppers. I had a back proceedure in Sept. and am so uncomfortable and not sleeping well. Can I even put a memory foam topper on this type of mattress? The problem I've always had with this mattress is it's too heavy and gets hot so you get very sweaty in summer weather.Any suggestions?I'm older now and arthritis is a major factor in figuring out the right mattress.

I purchased a TempSoma king size 3" topper and it was more than I expected. From the very start it expanded fully to the king size, and had little order at all. I left it out on top of my bed for two days and on the third, I made the bed up and it slept beautifully! I would recommend this topper to anyone who needs a good night's sleep. It also has two sides, one for sleeping in the same position (flat side), and one for a more invigorating comfort. I like them both, but preferred the ridged side the best.

Where can I purchase a sofa bed than uses a Tempsona mattress, not a topper. The fold out bed is made out of wooden slats not a spring system?
Name or brand would be helpful.

You recommend the tempasoma mattress topper yet gave an award to the Sleep-Aid Dream Topper with the cooling groves. Can you elaborate on the issue of heat with the tempasoma and why you recommended the tempasoma over the Sleep-Aid?

I bought my topper from Sams a few weeks ago ... after reading some of the comments about a "bad" smell coming from the foam I opened it up and laid it on top
of my guest bed for a week. No more fumes and it
was wonderful to sleep on after that. Putting the cover on the topper was very easy .. it fit like a mattress pad. I thought my old feather/down bed topper was the best there was .. but I think I've changed my mind and this topper is much cooler.

Do not buy this item. It not only smell bad but never expanded back to normal size. the queen size topper I got from sams club and let is stay in my closet for an year and I opened it now to use for a project. It will not expand even after 3 weeks. the compressed version of these will never get expanded after some period of shelf life. Has 10 Years warranty alright but I lost the receipt.

I want to buy a topper because my bed is sooo hot. Does this topper really make you cool in the summer? I need to know before purchasing.

Bought a king at sams and opened and aired it out the first 2 days. Put it on the next night, tho we needed a queen we let it hang over w/cover sheet on top. Didn't want to cut to size in case we didn't like. I cut it to size and have a 16" strip that can be used in many places. Should have bought this 10 yrs. ago. We are 55, and if she's happy--I'm happy.
